Steak `n Shake in Ypsilanti

Pulled through the drive through to be told that their screen was frozen. We went inside to place our to go order of 4 junior shakes. We waited a good half hour just to place this order and it took 45 minutes more just to even get our shakes. The shakes were good, which is the only reason that I'm leaving a 2 star review. I know the frozen screen was beyond their control, but orders that were meant for the drive through should have been expedited.

Got the patty melt meal with a orange shake the patty melt was awesome the best I've had pretty much anywhere besides home didn't care for the french fries and the Shake was to die for like a real shake should taste. The first person we had contact with seems a bit rude with an attitude but the person who took over for her after she just walked away when we where trying to ask her a question was more friendly a person who took care of their customers

Place was busy. Server did a decent job keeping up with all the orders. My fries were over cooked. They tasted like toothpicks. The second batch was much better.

The only reason it gets a three star is because the food is OK and the shakes are good. Shame on steak and shake for not staffing this place properly. It always looks dirty. The floor looks like it hasn’t been mopped in weeks. Seats and tables look like they have never been cleaned. The side walk leading up to the front door is stained from the floor inside being dirty. I come here to get my kids shakes because they love them. Sometimes we wait 15 minutes before the server comes to the table. Not always there fault. It’s very short staffed and they all have the “it’s not my job attitude”. I think they need a fresh face in management!! Someone that will right the ship before it’s too late!!

They are so slow. It's a miracle if you get service or food at all. Even the drive-through is horrible. If it was great service I might feel better about it but I have yet to have had decent service here.

So I'm used to the service not being friendly, and I'm used to trips through the drive through taking forever but today takes the cake. We got two shakes and a large fry. In addition to the people at the drive through being on the rude side (no hello, nothing said to us at the window besides the total due, nothing said at all when handed our food even when we thanked them for it) and it taking about 20 minutes to get through the line, the two shakes we got were not anywhere near full shakes.I understand that there is some differences in how each is made and that there could be some size difference but both shakes were filled less than 3/4 full. That is not what we paid for and I'm very disappointed. I likely won't be going back. At least before I could say I wasn't disappointed in the food, but if I'm not getting all the food I'm paying for then I don't see the point in spending the money.

Long wait to order and to receive food. But shakes are very good.

Extremely fast and accurate. She confirmed my order at the window, took my payment and was handing my bag. It was so fast I thought she gave me someone else's order. 😂😂

Food was better than expected. Service blew. One lady serving made it take two hours to get in and out of the place. Not one of the five people in back could help her out even though they spent most of their time leaning.

I came in on Saturday afternoon with my daughter for a quick bite to eat. I was sat down and given a menu. I glanced at my menu for five seconds before my server came to get my order. I told her that I wanted to start with my milkshake and would be ready when she came back. She proceeds to just stand there staring at me and when I glance up she says we'll what do you want to eat. I ordered the first thing that I came across and handed my menu back. Food and milkshake can out together and I ate my food. Server never once came to check on me during my dining experience and only came to hand me my bill. Worst experience ever as far as service went.

Went through drive through ordered 5 shakes. Got told to pull to front. 40 minutes later went inside to find it what's going on. Have no good excuse just apologized that only 1 shake maker yet they had 4 people standing around doing nothing. Went back out to wait. Another 20 minutes have since gone by. Still no shakes. But we have watched 8 shakes be delivered to tables inside. If your on a time schedule or need fast service . This is not the place! Manager said the shake person wouldn't let anyone back there to help her!!!

Decent food and service. They're pretty consistent from each restaurant, but sometimes late at night the quality starts to head south a little bit. But overall they are pretty solid at what they have been doing for a long time, providing a 50's style steak burger joint with great shakes and decent burgers. I am not a huge fan of their shoestring style French fries. I prefer steak fries and ironically I thought for sure that would be the style of fries you would think to find at a place called Steak and Shake.

Very disappointed. Food was bland, fries were crunchy! Coffee cup is small. Too small. I was the only person in the place at 6am, and it took 20 mins to order! Not impressed the least.

I had the Cajun steak burger. The burger was amazing. Perfectly cooked and meat was fresh and delicious. The cook was outstanding too, my friend had some extra request and he made the burger exactly as requested. Would definitely come here again. 10/10!!

Most of the time with this location I have no problems, but tonight was the worst service I have had at any restaurant. I waited a few minutes to be seated, but when I was greeted the host was really rude and in a rush so he sat two tables at once. The table sat next to us was not only waited on before us but, got food and shakes before anyone said hello. We waited 20 minutes and then left with no attempts to make up for the mistake. With party of three, I had never felt so invisible.

I couldn't believe how horribly thin and greasy the burger was. The waitress failed to bring everything we were supposed to get. If I could give the proper rating it would be a -10 and that is being nice. I can't believe this place stays in business.

Excellent but long wait in line

Came to this location at approximately 11pm on Tuesday April 30th. First of all we tried to order food in the drive thru however there was a chair in the driveway so we could not go through (see attached). Once we went in to place a to-go order we noticed the server was not wearing his apron nor his bow tie. Additionally one of the line workers was not wearing his bow tie. Finally, the kitchen was a disaster. There was food all over the floors and counter tops. We left immediately since we had no confidence the food would be cooked safely.

Good overall, slightly weird smell when you come in, but nothing like what some reviewers state, burgers are thinner, but I come here for the taste and since it's cheaper, they do have a drive thru. Overall a good place, the chain as a whole is struggling though, so I recommend you come in while you can! They do have a drive through also.

Big fan of what steak n shake has to offer but this location has consistently slow service

Dude sleeping in the restaurant. Doors locked. Big old 24 hours sign. I can see the employees hiding in the back. Great customer service.

Food is fine. Customer service is terrible. Came in to pick up an online order, and the woman in charge pretty much bit my head off yelling about how they just got the order, even though I had placed it eight minutes ago. Same lady then yelled at someone else who asked for a larger size cheese cup. Absolutely terrible attitude and demeanor. If I get it again, it'll be delivery.

Stopped in after our movie to grab a burger. I know the place isn't the fastest, but 5 minutes to be seated as the only person in line was the start. 15 minutes at the table before the waitress stopped by to take our order. 25 minutes goes by and the manager stopped by and asked if we had ordered. She checked on our order and then came back and told us it had not been placed yet and she would put a rush on it. We just left and went to Popeyes down the street.

This location continues to get worse if that is possible. No one greats you, servers do not say hello when they take your order. The food is fun but is not good so bad service is just not an option. No silverware was brought out. No kids menu. I don't know who cares less the employees or the owners that hire the employees.

This was absolutely one of the weirdest experiences ive had in my whole life. It wasn't bad, but the staff here are characters and it wasn't what I expected.

We went through the drive through, the order was 100% accurate and the food was exceptionally delicious.

The Garlic Steakburger is always my go to burger at Steak 'n Shake. This location consistently grills this burger to perfection. Very juicy and with a strong garlic taste. Their fresh banana shake indeed tastes like fresh banana.

Food is great but extremely slow at making it.

The garlic burger was delicious as usual. Service was good. We had carry out and we didn't have to wait long.

Ordered a Frisco melt from here and it was the worst I've ever had. The burger was half the sandwich leaving the other half all bread. Fries were cold and they told me to pull my vehicle to the front. I waited 15 minutes. The parking lot is full of massive pot holes. The mulch beds are full of weeds and the shrubs are completely over grown. I'll never come here again.

If you plan to come here, expect to wait. I placed an order for pickup, took about 20 minutes to get to the store and watched as 4 cars in the drive thru ordered and received their food and left before receiving my food. Food is decent though

Great place to eat, the food and shakes are great too. But the only downside is it takes a really long time for them to make you food.

Excellent food for a low price! Fast and friendly service! Their burgers, fries and shakes are absolutely amazing! Highly recommend if you've never tried Steak 'n Shake!

Best drive through shakes in town

HORRIBLE! Filthy bathroom with no paper towels. Out of tomatoes and American cheese (is this still a Steak ‘n Shake??) Avoid and remember happier times instead.

Not sure what happened here.... Years ago this was one of our favorite family places to visit.... Great menu.... Nice shakes .... Best "fast food" type burger....It was very obvious workers were short staffed, Over worked and stressed.They were yelling at each other right in the restaurant in front of customers.... We waited a really long time to get our bill and had to wait a long time at the register because they didn't have enough employees.It was packed so it seemed like business was good... So I couldn't figure out why the decline ... Sad experience for us

Great place for the whole family. My kids feel comfortable here and my picky eaters all have something they like. I'm able to get my food easily without dirty looks when I ask for no cheese or bun. A plus infinity! One of my favourite places to eat as a large family!

We normally have a great experience at this Steak n Shake. But this weekend was a different experience. We ended up with a bad case of food poisoning. Hopefully no one else did.

Great prices, burgers are cooked in an actual grill. Great staff!! We stopped there today and the 2 people working were really hopping doing all the orders, but were very helpful and fast!

The food was excellent this franchise I would think has an excellent history I was surprised that the parking lot was not full of cars

Awesome shakes. Usually our order is perfect but they must have been busy tonight...forgot catsup on one burger and didn't get tomato on my grilled cheese. They left out the ranch sauce too. We'll go back again though

I used to work at a Steak 'n Shake when I was 17. The brand does use fresh produce and that's why they get 2 stars. Every time I've dinned inside or ordered drive thru, its been slow. Today I asked if they were understaffed and was told it takes a long time to cook fresh food. I ordered 2 shakes and fries... I waited for 5 minutes at the drive thru menue before they even had time to take my order. The whole thing took over 15 minutes. Hire more people or change management.

My husband was impressed with his hamburger. The meat was cooked freshly on the grill, so be prepared to spend some time at the restaurant. The interior is quite fancy and looks like from a different email. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Restaurants is named steak n Shake so din't expect much else. There is also chicken and a salad on the menu. They have an awful lot of different milkshakes to choose from. The calorie amount of these drinks is also mentioned on the menu card. You have a choice between french fries and onion rings. They publish discount coupons in local flyer, so make sure to take some. There is ample parking and the staff wears a cute uniform with black bowtie. We will definitely go back.

It's Steak 'n Shake. Tasty, cheap burgers, fries, and shakes. All delicious. Sometimes too busy / understaffed, but everyone seems to be trying their best. Prices can't be beat. Drive-thru is impractical, but only because it's all real cooked-to-order food so you're going to wait a few minutes. Garlic steakburger is simple and perfect.

The food was good, but when I arrived my mother and I had to wait a little over 15 minutes for “a computer to finish rebooting” even though another employee helped another customer on the same computer. Then had to wait another 20 minutes for our food to be cooked, and to top it off the restaurant WAS FILTHY!!!!!🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

We stopped in after getting my daughter moved in for college. We got a lunch special which was burger, fries, cookie and slaw. They were out of slaw due to a mess up with inventory. So got double fries. We were happy with our food. All hot and tasty. Got served quickly. Thanks for the good service.

It took 45 mins to go through drive through. We had even paid and placed order before hand but you had to stand in the same line where people are ordering because they won’t give pick up orders separately
